Step 1 – Cleaning
Wipe thoroughly with a damp towel or cloth to remove dirt, salt, grime, etc. Avoid using degreasers or detergents. To remove the buildup of grease or spring pollen on the bases (usually manifested as a thick gray or black film on the base) lightly rub with a cloth dipped in a small amount of citrus solvent.

Step 2 – Check the Edges
Completely dry edges and ensure skis are stored in a dry, moisture-free environment to avoid edge rust. Remove the most obvious burrs to reduce the chances of rust and sharpen the edges. All Serket Military Skis have factory 1-degree side edge bevels and 1-degree flat edge bevels (88-degree angle).

Step 3 – Base Repair (if necessary)
For base gouges and scars, P-tex and/or base welds can repair the damage on both traditional Sintered Bases as well as extruded Posi-PosiTrac bases. For more severe base and edge damage, it may be necessary to do a base patch and or edge repair. A trained and experienced ski technician should conduct the repair.

Step 4 – Waxing for Use and Waxing for Storage (ideal but not essential)
To increase the skis’ gliding performance, use a hot or glide-on wax,
preferably within the temperature ranges where the skis operate.
For storage, it is ideal to hot wax the bases with an all-temperature or a
softer warm-weather wax to protect them from oxidation, but do not scrape it off. Be generous with the wax, and cover the edges, which will help keep rust away.
(Base waxing is ideal but less critical for extruded “Posi-Trac” bases).

Step 5 – Storage
Store in a dry, temperate place out of the sun. Store the skis in a neutral position with no pressure on the camber or rocker. Do not hang by the tips between two dowels or with the camber compressed by straps.

Step 6 – Prepare for Use
To prepare the skis for winter use, scrape the wax off (if hot storage wax
has been applied), brush, and go if an all-temperature wax was used. If a
warm weather wax was used, scrape it off and re-wax for the current
temperature. (Base waxing is ideal but less critical for extruded “Posi-Trac” bases).
